This website has been established to counter the grossly misleading claims by the Hotels and Clubs lobby groups about the proposed gambling reforms.

They say they’re un-Australian.

What they’re really saying is that it’s un-Australian to introduce gambling reforms which will protect Australians from gambling addiction.

That it’s un-Australian to stop this selfish, self-interested industry from continuing to prey on people with gambling addiction.

That it's un-Australian to stop Hotels and Clubs propping up their dangerous and addictive products when all research has shown it ruins lives.

Their claims are based on lies and aimed at scaring people.

$12 billion a year is lost on the pokies. 100,000 Australians are problem gamblers and an additional 200,000 are significantly at risk of developing a full-blown addiction.

The agreement between the Government and Independent MP Andrew Wilkie will not stop recreational gamblers from having a flutter.

It’s about helping those who sometimes lose up to $1200 an hour on the pokies.

What would be un-Australian would be to let this continue.

What’s un-Australian is that these Hotels and Clubs want to make money off the losses of problem gamblers.

Nick Xenophon
